One Day in Georgetown, Kentucky

Georgetown, Kentucky is around 30 minutes from The Ark Encounter (see my other blog post for information on the Ark Encounter).

Georgetown is a quiet southern town in Kentucky. Making the photo I took black and white gives it the older town vibes.

We stayed at an Air BNB called The House on Main close to the downtown historic Georgetown. It used to be called The Willa V. Rankin House and is now renovated and known as The House on Main.

Historic Downtown

We walked the streets of Georgetown and went in all the quaint stores. We ate at Spotz Gelato and Local Feed. Local Feed was a farm to table restaurant.

Trail Riding

We did a 45 minute trail ride with Whispering Woods Riding Stables. We found this activity on Viator. They have a farm you can enjoy the animals on before you ride the horses. You have a guide along the 45 minute trail ride. The owner gives you a horse based on your personality when you walk in. You ride the horses in a line following your guide on the trail. The guide will give you helpful information about each horse. This is an easy ride for beginners. I had never ridden a horse until now and I loved it. Be sure to wear long pants. Also you will go through many trees and shrubs, so check yourself for ticks when you leave. You have the option to wear a helmet or not on this leisure trail ride.

The Kentucky Castle

We decided to venture over to Versailles, Kentucky to visit The Kentucky Castle. It is around 20 minutes from Georgetown.

This castle is simply elegant and stunning. You can eat in here, get drinks, stay overnight in the castle or turrets, and rent it out for parties.

We did a tour of the castle with a guide that we booked on Viator. Be sure to sit and get a drink and enjoy the elegance of a castle in the United States.
